Hirie is the sole female in the Billboard Reggae Top 10

Reggae singer Hirie is the only female act in the top 10.

The Billboard Reggae Album top 10 is dominated by male acts, however, singer Hirie managed to make her presence felt on this week’s chart. Her third studio effort, Dreamer, revisits the top 10 at No. 3.

Dreamer was released September 13. It peaked at No. 2 on the chart dated September 28.

Hirie was born in the Philippines and moved to Italy at a young age. She later settled in Hawaii where she became a member of the growing reggae scene.

Her debut self-titled album peaked at No. 5 in 2015. In 2016, she became one of a few female reggae acts to top the chart, when she released Wandering Soul.

Other female reggae acts to have topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart include Etana, Queen Ifrica, Patra and Diana King.
