Jamaica’s Reggae Girl ‘Bunny’ Shaw makes Guardian’s 100 best female footballers list

Reggae Girl Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has is among England’s newspaper The Guardian’s 100 best female footballers in the world this year.

The Jamaican, who plays for Bordeaux in the French League, was adjudged to be No. 80 in the world, by the newspaper, which only published the last 30 on the list on Tuesday. The full list will be announced periodically over the upcoming days.

According to the newspaper, the 93 judges comprised of players, coaches, journalists, broadcasters and past and current players. They were drawn from 44 countries around the world.

The Guardian said players were awarded points on the position that the judges ranked them, with the No. 1 of each judge getting 40 points, and it declines in descending order with the No. 40 player getting one point.

The list was compiled along with the website, The Offside Rule.

Shaw was instrumental in Jamaica’s participation in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France during the summer. Before that, she scored four goals in two warm-up friendlies.

She joined Bordeaux after the World Cup and has since scored nine goals to be second in the goal-scoring table.
