— Jonathan Coleman, producer of the event

“Kanye is going around the world, and one of his workers is from Jamaica and she told him that Jamaicans would like something like this. We were given the red carpet by the Minster of Entertainment and Culture, and she moved heaven and earth to make this happen,” said Jonathan Coleman, producer of the event.

This will be West’s second time performing in Jamaica. He last performed here at Reggae Sumfest in 2004.

The Atlanta-born Chicago-reared West started out as a producer for record label Roc-A-Fella Records. He made his debut as a rapper with the release of his 2004 album, The College Dropout, which sold millions of copies.

With 21 Grammy awards under his belt, West is set to release the album Jesus is King on October 25 via Def Jam.

His hits include All Falls Down and I’m In It featuring Jamaican dancehall artiste Assasasin.
