Voter turnout expected to be lower this time around — analysts

Voters preparing to cast their ballots in a pervious election.

With general election widely expected to be held this year, analysts are projecting a low voter-turnout than in previous elections.

Analysts believe that turnout will continue on the downward trend which has been a trend in recent years.

For the 2016 elections, just under 48 per cent of eligible voters exercised that right. The decline has been observed for the last 20 years.

It is now expected that the two major parties will have to do a lot of work to draw out voters to the polls when elections are called. Jamaicans are said to have grown less enthused with the process.
