There’s a light shining on St Thomas. That’s the declaration from dancehall artiste Popcaan, after Miss Jamaica World, Toni-Ann Singh, was crowned Miss World 2019 on Saturday.

‘It makes me very happy to see someone else from the parish flourishing and making us all proud’.

Singh was born in the Morant Bay, St Thomas, and proudly shared that fact on the world stage.
Popcaan has always been a proud ambassador of his birth parish, St Thomas, and took to his Instagram to congratulate the newly crowned Miss World, and to highlight his parish’s latest achievement.

“There’s a total different light shining on St Thomas parish right now, and it makes me very happy to see someone else from the parish flourishing and making us all proud. Go Toni Ann, you have me and my whole team support,” he wrote.
Singh is the first Jamaican and Caribbean national to be crowned Miss World since Lisa Hanna won in 1993.
