Alkaline is the face of the Spotify’s first Jamaican-centered dancehall playlist, ‘Back A Yard’, following the platform’s recent entry into the Caribbean.
The almost three-hour playlist has been dubbed ‘‘the latest and biggest tracks from Jamaica’s dancehall scene” and includes 51 tracks from some of the biggest names in the genre.
Driven by listeners’ streams, the playlist includes Alkaline’s February release, Top Prize, which sent the artiste’s name trending on Twitter over the weekend.
The track has been played almost 900,000 times on digital streaming platforms since its February 12 release, with his YouTube channel also generating one million views.
Alkaline recently performed in Florida, where a crowd of almost 1,000 fans were treated to his numerous hits including City, Formula and Move Mountain.
The 27-year-old Champion Boy artiste has a 14-track album which will be released soon.
Spotify recently announced that it will launch in more than 80 countries, including Caribbean nations Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago.
