American Grant Holloway breaks indoor 60m hurdles world record

American Grant Holloway broke the indoor 60m hurdles when he blitzed 7.29 seconds at a meet in Madrid today.

American sprint hurdler Grant Holloway winning the 110-m hurdles event at the 2019 World Championship in Doha, Qatar.

Holloway took one hundredth of a second off the previous mark set by Britain’s Colin Jackson in 1994.

The clock initially flashed 7.32 seconds after the world champion completed the race but was adjusted to 7.29 seconds when the official time came through about a minute later.

The 23-year-old sets himself up as one of the favourites for the 110-metre hurdles event at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan where Jamaican Omar McLeod will hope to defend his title won in 2016.
