US media house ABC has adjudged Usain Bolt’s Olympic triumphs in 2012 and 2016 as the biggest sports stories of the current decade.
This is just the latest accolade that has been sent Bolt’s way to recognise the impact that he had on a sport that, at the time, was facing challenging times in holding on to fans. In London 2012, even Lord Sebastian Coe touted the rivalry between himself and Justin Gatlin as good vs evil.
Bolt then proceeded to walk away from both events as champion, further cementing his legacy as the greatest sprinter the world has ever seen.
ABC has now joined the rest of the world and has taken note of the exploits of the great man, pointing out that his 2012 performance was quite epic after having been touted as the underdog leading up to the event.
There were other major sports stories during the decade, including the Chicago Cubs world series win and Simone Biles dominating gymnastics, Bolt’s performances still stood out.
