Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ played by protestors who overrun US Capitol

Bob Marley likely rolled in his grave after video surfaced of pro-Trump protestors using his song during a riot in the US Capitol last evening.

The video, shared by USA Today reporter Christal Hayes, showed hundreds of protestors outside the Capitol building; many waving flags and wearing “Make America Great Again” hats  while defying authorities who tried to quell the riot.

As they openly flouted coronavirus rules including mask wearing and social distancing protocols, Marley’s inspirational track, Three Little Birds, blared from a nearby speaker.

The song was recorded by Bob Marley and the Wailers for their 1977 album, Exdous, and is often used for its inspirational lyrics which include “don’t worry about a thing” and “every little thing is gonna be all right”.

One woman was reportedly fatally shot by Capitol police during the incident which saw protestors overrun the Capitol building and send lawmakers, who had gathered to rubberstamp Joe Biden’s election win, seeking refuge.
