The graduating class of 2019 at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts were treated to quite a candid valedictory speech.
During the delivery of the speech, the graduate related that he was honoured to be the valedictorian for the 2019 class, expressing a level of gratitude that they were able to complete their studies.
However, we are certain that persons were not expecting his next line when he charged his fellow graduates with a local expletive to “big up oonu bloodc!@%*t self” which drew raucous applause from the crowd.
His speech is certain to be a talking point for a while, in light of the debate that has been ongoing about how to treat expletives in Jamaica especially on the entertainment scene.
Incidents earlier in the year saw artistes being reprimanded for its use which led to young senator Dr. Andre Haughton pushing for a review of the policy.
