A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to cover the funeral expenses of dancehall veteran Sister Charmaine.
The prolific dancehall artiste passed away in her US home on Tuesday January 5 at the age of 53.
The GoFundMe campaign aims to raise US$20,000. So far it has raised almost US$8000.
The creator of the campaign describes Charmaine as a dancehall “icon”, who made an undeniable mark.
“Sister Charmaine was a dancehall icon, with a larger than life voice and personality to match. She lived a full life, surrounded by family, friends, and people who loved her music,” it read.
So far, dancehall artiste Spice has thrown her support behind the campaign, encouraging fans to donate.
“I NEVER EVER SEE A FEMALE SO GENUINE and talk about another female the way you did, that also needs to be highlighted 🙏🏾 Please donate what you can,” Spice wrote.
Charmaine is survived by her beloved daughter and granddaughter.
