Dancehall artiste I Waata is being strategic about gaining traction in dancehall.
The artiste, born Jason Bailey, told the Jamaica Observer “Mi nah crowd di people. Di ball game ah kick smooth as a bad man.”
His comments come on the heels of his latest single, Tr888, which has been gathering steam since its release a week ago.
Already, the video has racked up over 126,000 views on his YouTube page.
“The song ah blow up! Quick Cook bring the riddim come give me, now the world ah play it,” he told the media house. “Nothing no wrong up, no stutter, we Tr888, ah the code that.”
I Waata first started to gain recognition following his Sting 2014 performance. Since then he’s had several hits including Pat A Shake and Clip Tall, which has received over two million views on YouTube in just three months.
