Lil Kim to be honoured at BET Hip Hop Awards

Congratulations are in order for Lil Kim who is set to receive the 2019 “I Am Hip Hop award” at the BET Hip Hop Awards on October 8.

Lil Kim who was instrumental in shaping the standard for the current female rappers was introduced to the world by the Notorious B.I.G. and he gave her the opportunity to join his crew, Junior Mafia. She went on to pursue a solo career in 1996 and things took off.

Her debut studio album “Hard Core” was certified double Platinum and gave her three consecutive No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Rap Songs chart: “No Time,” “Not Tonight (Ladies Night Remix),” and “Crush on You”. She also landed a #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit with 2001’s “Lady Marmalade,” featuring Christina Aguilera, Pink, & Mýa.

The Brooklyn rapper is not only inspirational for her music but her imprint in high urban fashion and pop culture.

The rapper showed gratitude on her Instagram in a post captioned, “I am graciously humbled by this honor. Thank you @bet. Beehive this one is for you #bless.”

Queen Bee is gearing up to release her fifth studio album this fall. The first single, Found You, featuring City Girls and O.T. Genasis was released on Friday and she is advising the women to get their twerking skills up.
