Lisa Hanna may be counting her lucky stars today…or the 32 votes that returned her as Member of Parliament.
The People’s National Party candidate for St Ann South Eastern retained the seat for the fourth time following yesterday’s official ballot recount.
Hanna received 5,122 votes to the 5,090 polled by the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Delroy Granston.
The win was 18 votes more than her margin in the preliminary count after Thursday’s general election. At the time, Hanna received 5,124 votes to Granston’s 5,110.
However, it may still be too soon to breathe a sigh of relief as the ruling JLP could still seek a magisterial recount after its team meets today.
