Cardi B just can’t seem to stay out of the mix, particularly when it comes to expensive bags.
The Bodak Yellow artiste has come under heavy criticism for asking fans on Twitter if she should purchase a US$88,000 purse, which didn’t go over too well.
“Should I spend 88K for this damn purse? Omggg it’s tempting,” she tweeted yesterday (December 6).
Needless to say, social media users found the question a little insensitive amid a pandemic where many people lost jobs, gotten pay cuts and been rendered homeless.
One user wrote, “Delete this. It is unrelatable and distasteful, especially in the midst of a global pandemic.”
Another added, “People are out here hurting. Can’t buy food or pay their rent, and you are seriously talking about a purse for tht kind of money. Why not just donate it to your fans. We are the reason why you have tht money to waste.”
In true Cardi fashion, the rapper hit back in numerous tweets, highlight the charitable work she has done amid the coronavirus, which included donating 20,000 meal supplements to New York hospitals, also claiming she gave US$1 million to fans through Cash App two months ago.
The 28-year-old said, “I already donated 2 million dollars this year and I’m doing something very special in a another country that will be done with next year. What have you donated?”
She then said she would match the charitable donations of her followers once they shared the receipts. “Any charity or foundation drop your receipts,” she added. “Under the comment I will match what you donated and match your donation to that same charity or foundation. Lets match energy.”
A half-hearted apology later followed.
However, the WAP rapper still got her bag, because…she’s Cardi, b!
