Reggae group Morgan Heritage has been featured on a soundtrack for the upcoming film Coming 2 America which stars Eddie Murphy.
The group featured on the song Hallelujah with Tanzanian artiste Diamond Platnumz, which will appear on the film’s soundtrack Rhythms of Zamunda: Music Inspired by Coming 2 America.
This soundtrack features 16 tracks from artistes across Africa and serves as a companion album to the official soundtrack for the movie. Other artistes featured include South African artiste Nasty C and the late DJ Arafat from the Ivory Coast.
The soundtrack release is set to coincide with that of the movie on March 5. It is being released by Def Jam Records in conjunction with Def Jam Africa.
Of note is that the track Hallelujah was banned in Tanzania although it has racked up over 12 million views on YouTube since its release. The Tanzanian authorities had argued that the song was blasphemous as it promoted indecency. It was initially released in 2017 to much acclaim on the African continent.
