Nicki Minaj’s mother files US$150m lawsuit against driver charged in father’s death

Nicki Minaj and her father, Robert Maraj

Nicki Minaj’s mother, Carol Maraj, has filed a US$150 million lawsuit against the man accused of killing the rapper’s father in a hit and run last month.

The lawsuit claims that the driver, seventy-year-old Charles Polevich, was negligent and left the victim, Robert Maraj, 64, at the scene of the accident.

An attorney for Carol Maraj, Benjamin Crump, said “He was not only irresponsible and negligent, but more concerned about running away and hiding than seeking help.”

Robert Maraj was hit on February 12 in Long Island. He died at hospital the following day. Polevich was arrested and charged for leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with physical evident. He pleaded not guilty and was released on bail, but ordered not to leave the state.
