Shenseea seeks dancehall greatness with epic new freestyle

It wasn’t enough to be selected as one of BUZZ’s top trending artistes of 2020, Shenseea is back to prove that she’s also the one to watch this year.

Dancehall artiste Shenseea

The prolific deejay unexpectedly dropped a fiery freestyle track last evening after a performance of her single Bad Habit became a freestyle for the Don’t Rush rhythm after being drawn out.

The Bad Habit/Don’t Rush Freestyle has already received over 150,000 views on YouTube with many fans quickly using it to affirm her talent as dancehall’s next big thing.

The lyrics are proof that she’s more than aesthetics, cleverly affording listeners wordplay, references and overtly hyping up her achievements, and rightly so.

Criminal wanted by many men

Real champion ask Buju Banton

Dem wah se mi fail but that anuh God’s plan

Because mi a hunt ghost like Danny Phantom

The Shen Yeng boss also pays homage to her homeland, and the inherent toughness that it begets, spitting:

Mi born a Jamaica, nuh punk mi nuh fraida

Mi paper me here fah, nuh hitch you will pay fah!

And also sends a shout-out to everyone’s favourite sprinter with:

Blessings a run like Fraser

Gi praise to me Saviour, mi sharp like a razor

(That’s an ode to two-time Olympic 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, in case you’ve taken residence under a rock that’s not The Rock).

It was a true masterpiece, testament to the journey of the woman who moved from being a bottle girl to a top-flight artiste. But it was only a matter of delivering on talent because who wouldn’t want to be rich like Romeich Major, as she said?
