Shenseea mourns mom on anniversary of her passing

Dancehall artiste Shenseea with her late mom

Dancehall artiste Shenseea was in a pensive mood on Friday as she mourned her mother on the first anniversary of her passing.

The Shenyeng Boss took to Instagram where she shared a throwback picture of herself and her mother along with the caption “Wish we had more time” along with a broken heart emoji.

This is the first post that Shenseea has made on social media in weeks.

Her mother, Castilyn Williams, died on June 25, last year after a mild stroke and a heart attack.

And the grieving process hasn’t been easy. At one point, she went into a meltdown over her mom who played the roles of mother and father to her. “Mommy My heart is broken Mommy, broke I never knew I had this much tears until this day! I ask God for strength just strength I love you Forever #RIP #RIP #RIP my nada and fada Ina one!!! Jah know mi mada I’ll never forget you EVER!???? I ask everyone Please if you see me in person done remind me of this my heart is weary” she wrote at the time.

However, just like then, she has been receiving a lot of support, especially from members of the entertainment fraternity. Manager and friend Romeich asked her to “stay strong”.

Meanwhile, fellow dancehall artiste Steff London wrote “Mama is beyond proud trust me. Keep reaching for the stars while Dovey Magnum wrote ” sending some comfort Shen”.

There were other messages of support coming from Romain Virgo, Jada Kingdom, Ding Dong amongst others.
But despite her grief, Shenseea has been doing well. She had a top hit after collaborating with Taurus Riley on the track ‘Lighter and was named BET’s Amplified Artist of the Month.

The Blessed artiste is now reported to be working on an album and a potential collab with rap superstar Drake is said to be in the works.
