A surprise seven-track album by Maluma is the latest result of Jamaica’s influence on the global music scene.
7 Días En Jamaica, aptly named for the reggaetón star’s brief stay on the island which inspired the body of work, was released last Thursday and features visuals which include the island’s 2017 Miss Universe entrant Davina Bennett.
In addition to contributing to production, Jamaican players also featured on two of the albums tracks.
Tónika, the first single, includes the talents of Ziggy Marley, son of the legendary Bob Marley, while Charly Black is found on Love, a follow-up to their Gyal Yu A Party Animal remix from 2017.
Rumours of a possible music collaboration first surfaced last October when it was revealed that the Latin star was vacationing on the island.
Bennett, for her starring role in the album’s colourful visuals, shared “So excited and honored to have been the lead woman in @maluma’s “7 Días en Jamaica!” I’ve had to keep it a secret for a bit but I am so happy to finally share it with all of you! I hope you all love the videos as much as we do! Comment your thoughts below. 🧡🧡🧡 Love you all!”
