Masicka’s album cover on display in Times Square, NYC

As the debut album for dancehall artiste, Masicka went live earlier today, Times Square in New York City lit up with the project’s fiery artwork.

438, the long anticipated album from a man considered to be one of dancehall most lyrical, is now available for purchase on all digital platforms worldwide.

According to a release, the artiste’s 16 track compilation is as musically compelling as his journey in dancehall with his team dubbing it “a display of mastery in lyrics, vocal arrangement, and storytelling.”

“This release is an immense culmination of the potential and consistency he (Masicka) has displayed through his music over the years. On this debut, Masicka retells the story of transitioning from a dark life of poverty in Jamaica, to a life of hope, possibilities, and opulence, through the lens of a willful, innovative artist who did it through his own effort,” his team’s statement read.

Of the 16 tracks on the album, only four are features. Included on collaborations are; Popcaan, Stefflon Don, Dexta Daps and multi-Grammy winning artiste, Sean Paul. 438, released by ONErpm, also features previously released singles including They Don’t Know, Different Type and Ultimate.

Masicka who has been relatively quiet on both the music and social media scene has seemingly re-emerged with his latest project. His official Instagram page which went dark a few months ago, only became active again two days ago to tease the album. All posts since then have been to promote the project including an intro to one of the album’s tracks which features a prayer from the artiste’s grandmother.

“My grandson, no weapon that formed against you shall prosper and every tongue that rise up against you shall condemned in judegment,” a part of the prayer states. “The Lord will continue cover you under his blood. The world is yours, you’re gonna spread your wings as an eagle.”

“Love you my grandson, for you I am praying,” the prayer ends before Masicka starts the first verse of the song.

It is unclear which of the 16 tracks bore that intro but it has received rave reviews on social media from fans and industry colleagues alike who have predicted that the album will be a powerful hit.
