Dancehall artiste Tommy Lee Sparta spent his first night at the Freeport lock-up in St James on Tuesday (July 7) after turning himself in to the police.

The Jamaican deejay, born Leroy Russell Junior, is reportedly being held under provisions of the State of Public Emergency (SOE) in the parish his attorney, Ernest Smith, said.

The 32-year-old star reported to the Montego Bay-based station after law enforcement officials listed him as a person of interest a day earlier.

Tommy Lee Sparta was given until midday Tuesday to turn himself in, a request he complied with.

It’s understood the police intend to question Tommy Lee Sparta with regards to the upsurge of violence in Flanker, the community where he once hailed.

There have been no formal charges laid against the ‘Blessings’ artiste.

More information to come in subsequent updates.
