Two hundred and fifty million dollars. That’s a lot of money isn’t it BUZZ family? Well, that’s what producer and entrepreneur Tyler Perry has invested in the first and only black movie studio lot in Hollywood.
Perry opened the massive studio lot in Atlanta, Georgia within days of receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It’s been a great few days for the man who started out writing plays and dressing up like a grumpy old lady, isn’t it?
Well, that’s just the start and his new studio is expected to specially compliment his new partnership with BET that will see the Black culture themed network roll out its contents through a streaming service. He has already pushed out two programs, The Oval and Sistas, but more is yet to come.
The lot is now on lands that used to be a former Confederate Army base. And based on information received the lot is larger than those of established studios Disney, Warner Bros, Paramount, Fox and Sony combined with a lot more room for more.
On Saturday, Perry called out the who’s who in the black community to come out and celebrate him and indeed they did. Stars such as Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé amongst other black greats both inside and outside of the entertainment industry.
Well done Tyler and we hope that Madea is among the productions. We can’t wait for what you churn out.
