We have it under control — concerns about Kanye Sunday Service being managed

While the news of Kanye’s Sunday Service has caught on like wildfire with expectations of a huge turnout, there are growing concerns things may not go the way it should. The short notice of the event has had persons working around the clock to maintain the standard of the event as it has been showcased when Kanye has done it in various parts of the United States.

The event is slated for 7:00 pm this evening at Emancipation Park in New Kingston, and is expected to terminate around 9:00 pm.

As announced, it’s the first time the event is taking place in the Caribbean and officials certainly want to make a good impression. However, the Police and the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation have pointed out that traffic congestion may become a problem.

Nonetheless, they indicate that if everyone corporates, then things could proceed smoothly but they are pulling out the stops to try and prevent any sort of pandemonium from taking place.

The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport also reiterated that while there are concerns about the traffic, they are working closely with the Police to ensure that it is managed as best as possible.

The event will have a minimalistic layout – focusing predominantly on the music.

In relation to the event, of note, is news that it will be without any pomp and pageantry as there will be no VIP section. What is being said, is that organisers want to keep it as simple as possible and will therefore have no chairs or press section — just a simple affair.

The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport noted that this event aligns with Minister Grange’s focus to establish Jamaica as an events destination.

Head of Public Relations and Corporate Communications for the Ministry, Oliver Watt, added,”Whenever persons are thinking of hosting events in the region, we want everyone to think Jamaica first.”
