A plane crashed at White Sand Beach in Clarendon, Jamaica recently and seemingly inspired the creativity of dancehall artiste Skillibeng.
The 12-seater plane crashed on January 23 and caused quite a stir in the neighbouring community of Rocky Point. Videos circulating online saw curious residents inspecting the aircraft, and speculating as to its possible cargo.
Well, Skillibeng has theorised what the plane might have been carrying and has placed his speculation in a song titled Coke.
“Plane just crash wid di coke,” the fast-rising dancehall artiste sings in his newly-released song.
To apparently add some authenticity to his hunch, Skillibeng and his management team thought it would be a good idea to shoot the video for the song at the site of the plane crash.
Clips from the video shoot sees the Mr Universe artiste sitting comfortably on the plane while he belts out his repetitive lyrics-“plane just crash with di coke”.
Skillibeng’s foresight to take advantage of the buzz surrounding the crashed plane worked, as the song is currently trending at number one on YouTube. It has also amassed almost 300,000 views since its release on Monday.
Jamaica’s Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson shared at a recent news conference that the plane – which was de-registered and its ownership domiciled in Mexico – was not destined for Jamaica.
Anderson said the incident is now the subject of a transnational investigation.
