Zoya Yaseka Johnson has built a solid career in the world of sports, and she is certainly one to watch.
Born in Mocha, Clarendon, Zoya Yaseka, pronounced Zo-ei-ya Yah-seh-ka, developed a love for sports at a young age. And at five years old, she started gymnastics at the same gym as her hero, US Olympian Dominique Dawes, when she migrated to the US.
Zoya was invited into the Elite development programme by Dominique’s coach, the world-renowned Kelli Hill. Under Kelli’s tutelage Zoya became a nationally ranked athlete. However, chronic injuries would prevent her from pursuing her Olympic dreams. Luckily, talent afforded Zoya an opportunity to go to any Division One college of her choice on a full scholarship. She chose North Carolina University.
With 12 years of experience as an elite coach and 17 years of experience as a gymnast, Zoya is helping to build Jamaica’s Olympic programme as the vice president of International Relations for the Jamaica Amateur Gymnastics Association through her resource, Prescription For LIFE.
She also works as a sports marketing model and currently lives in California. Zoya is now signed to a modelling agency, Sports and Lifestyle Unlimited, and she has also modelled for Reebok, Lululemon, Fabletics and Adidas. She has also appeared in a 2019 Cadillac commercial.
