Jamaican politician Krystal Tomlinson celebrated her 31st birthday on Tuesday (June 8), and treated her more than 250,000 Instagram followers to some stunning photos.
Taken a beach somewhere, the photos encapsulated her message of resilience as Tomlinson reflected on what was a tumulus year.
“The last year: tested my balance but I was anchored, threw me off course but did not corrupt my divine compass, dented my hull but the ship did not sink. I consider this my hardest and best year yet,” she stated in a lengthy caption.
The young politician lost her bid to become a member of parliament for West Rural St Andrew when she went up against incumbent, Juliet Cuthbert.
That same year also saw the relationship ending between her and partner dancehall artiste Beenie Man, The couple share a three-year-old daughter, and Tomlinson had once expressed hopes of tying the knot with the ‘King of the Dancehall’.
“Millions witnessed me endure painful losses and failures. Some were happy at the thought that I’d drown. But so many more honoured and loved me through it,” she continued.
But even as she reflected on her losses, the former Jamaica Festival Queen is also holding on to the lessons she’s learnt.
“After 31 revolutions around the sun I’m sure of my capacity to grow through any hardship. To find my dock in the roughest storm. To get to shore even when it feels like I’ll drown,” she said.
Adding; “I can use any wind to get home. I only need to adjust my sails,”
