UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has named his new born son after two doctors who he says saved his life when he was in intensive care with coronavirus last month.
The new born is named Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson – with the name Nicholas chosen a nod to the two doctors, Dr Nick Price and Dr Nick Hart who treated Johnson.
Carrie Symonds, Johnson’s fiancée, announced on Instagram that the baby was also named after the prime minister’s grandfather, Wilfred, and her grandfather, Lawrie.
Ms Symonds praised midwives and staff at London’s University College Hospital (UCLH), adding: “Thank you so, so much to the incredible NHS maternity team at UCLH that looked after us so well.
“I couldn’t be happier. My heart is full.”
The birth came just weeks after Mr Johnson was discharged from intensive care and a few days after he returned to work on Monday.
