Fans across the globe were hooked on HBO’s Game of Thrones so much so that missing an episode was tantamount to having heart problems.
However, it came to an end on May 19 this year and fans keep revisiting various scenes through mediums such as YouTube. So it was met with high expectations when news began circulating that a prequel was being developed to showcase more about the series.
However, news has just come forward that HBO has cancelled the prequel after a pilot, which was developed over the summer, was not well received by the media entity.
The prequel, starring actress Naomi Watts, was co-created by Game of Thrones author George RR Martin and was reported to have been set about 5,000 years before events in the original series, which ended its eight-season run earlier this year.

A second Game of Thrones prequel project, however, is believed to still be in the works, based on a post from the official Games of Thrones Twitter account. Dubbed ‘House Of The Dragon’, this prequel will focus on the Targaryen Civil War.
