It’s no secret that there has been a major boom in the makeup industry over the past five years. The demand for products and services has increased because of social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram where makeup connoisseurs often show off their skills and talents.
Quite frankly, some amount of pressure has been placed on women to now aim for this standard of beauty. And the truth is, it all looked so intimidating.
For those of us who are a little bit more low maintenance with our makeup looks, here are a few quick tips and tricks to achieve a simple and effective everyday makeup look.
You only need eight products: brow pencil, concealer, setting powder, bronzer, highlighter, mascara setting spray and lipgloss/chapstick. Brow gel and eyeliner are optional.
Don’t forget the brows
First things first are the brows. Here’s a pictorial on how to get the best results:
Conceal, conceal, conceal
The next step is to take that same concealer that’s a shade lighter than your skin tone and apply it under your eyes in a triangular shape. This will brighten your eyes while concealing dark circles. A crucial step is to blend the concealer with a brush, beauty sponge or even your finger beyond the edge of your eye in order to give your eyes a lift. This will make you appear more youthful.
Use a setting powder
Afterwards, use a setting powder that’s close to your skin tone or a shade lighter to help brighten under your eyes to set the concealed areas. You can apply this with a brush or the beauty sponge for an even finish.
You can apply your mascara next.
Bronzer for a sunkissed appearance
The bronzer is next. Use a contour brush to apply it on the contours of your face to give your skin a sunkissed appearance. Contours would include, but not limited to, your cheekbones, jawline, the sides of your nose, under your bottom lip. Use a little or a lot – your choice.
Then take a big fluffy brush and dust it all over your face, blending everything together. Ensure that you’re holding the end of the brush to blend.
Follow this up with some dewy setting spray and allow natural breeze to start drying the setting spray. (If you have oily skin definitely opt for a matte setting spray)
Highlight and glow
Before it’s completely dried, add some highlighter on the highpoints of your cheekbones, your brow bone and the inner corners of your eyes to make them pop even more and give your skin a radiant glow.
Repeat the blending process with the brush.
The next step is to apply your lipgloss/chapstick.
Use your setting spray one more time if needs be, and then THAT’S IT!
You can always modify it as much as you need to by adding blush, maybe lashes or brow gel for thicker looking eyebrows. Whatever floats your boat! The point is you don’t need too much to enhance your natural beauty.
So, don’t think too deep into it. Remember makeup is just an option, it’s not mandatory.
