Instagram Music is now available in Jamaica. The feature was released to users on the island on Wednesday (December 8), and they now have the option to post images and videos while playing a song that captures their mood to their Instagram Stories.
The feature was first launched in 2018 but was not available to people in Jamaica because of music licensing restrictions. Instead, when Instagram users in Jamaica would view content from other parts of the world, they were shown muted videos or stories.
Instagram licenses music from record labels or rights holders for use in the regions that are agreed upon by the licenser.
According to Instagram, its Stories is now used by 400 million every day, and music allows its users to feel more connected to their community.
Users can incorporate this feature by tapping “music” from the “stickers” options in their Stories; this will open up a library of thousands of songs. Users can search for a specific song, browse by mood, genre or what’s popular and tap the play button to hear a preview.
After selecting the song, users can fast-forward and rewind through the track to choose the exact part that fits their story.
