Actress Helen McCrory has died. She was 52-years-old. Her husband Damian Lewis confirmed her death saying she died after a battle with cancer.
“I’m heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family,” he tweeted.
McCrory played Bellatrix Lestrange in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” She is also known for her role in the James Bond film “Skyfall” as well as shows including “Peaky Blinders,”.
“She died as she lived,” Lewis continued. “Fearlessly. God we loved her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.”
The couple married in 2007 after meeting on the production of “Five Gold Rings” at London’s Almeida Theatre in 2003. They share two young children with McCrory, a daughter, Manon, and a son, Gulliver.
