Michelle Obama will launch a non-profit campaign to provide over one million meals to families in need.
The announcement was made Tuesday, to coincide with the debut of her Netflix children’s show, Waffles + Mochi.
The initiative, “Pass the Love w/ Waffles + Mochi” is being done in collaboration with the Partnership for a Healthier America nonprofit and Higher Ground Productions, Obama’s production company with her husband, former US President Barack Obama.
The former first lady said the initiative is aimed at helping to “make sure families all over the country can access fresh, nutritious food”, particularly amid the pandemic.
About 45 million Americans have experienced limited or uncertain access to adequate food in the past year, 10 million more than in 2019.
The campaign will roll out in May and continue through 2021.
