Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Jamaica Janet Omoleegho Olisa hosted a wonderful surprise birthday party for her husband, Ambassador Sam Azubukike Dada Olisa at Nigeria House on Kingston’s Millsborough Close.
Among those in attendance were: The Mexican Ambassador Juan Jose Gonzalez Mijares, Dominican Republic Ambassador Felix Ramon Garcia Taveras, Senator Tom Tavares-Finson and his beautiful wife Rose, media commentator Chester Jackson-Francis, French Ambassador to Jamaica Denys Wibaux, CEO of Island Grill Thalia Lyn and her husband Captain Michael Lyn, attorney and politician Anthony Hylton and his wife Yodit, DownSound Entertainment boss Joe Bogdanovich, Queen Ifrica and her husband Tony Rebel, cardiologist Dr Ernest Madu and his wife Dr Dainia Baugh.
The venue was a panoply of colour with many resplendent in their African garbs. High Commissioner Janet Olisa was a charming hostess and a fabulous MC, recounting the many virtues of her husband. Ambassador Sam Olisa’s actual birthday fell on September 19th and he spent it visiting Mayan caves in Belize. Back in Jamaica, however, it was a double celebration with his wife throwing a party for his 70th birthday and their wedding anniversary. The Nigerian cuisine served up was both exquisite and delectable with the dance floor kept busy with people dancing to syncopated Nigerian rhythms.
Ambassador Olisa gave a toast declaring his love of and gratitude to his wife who beamed with pride. “She tricked me to get me out of the house with having me go horse riding. I assumed she was finished with the celebration of my birthday which was a month ago but I was wrong.” He ended his toast by thanking God for 70 years of good health.
