What a turn out it was at Kingston’s AC Marriott for the launch event for Proven’s VIA at Braemar residential real estate project.
The complex was designed by Jamaican ace architect David Douglas and financed by Victoria Mutual Building Society. VIA at Braemar located in New Kingston is a ten-storey, 99 mixed unit development with 51 studio apartments, 30 one-bedroom apartments and 18 two-bedroom apartments. The complex houses a reception area with concierge, landscaped lounges with north and south lookouts, a suspended rooftop pool that spans both sides of the building and a business and coffee centre.
‘It is said that the value and attractiveness of real estate is— Aisha Campbell
dependent on three variables: location, location, location. VIA has all three.’
Speaking at the event organised by Tara Playfair Scott at the AC Marriott’s poolside, Proven Reit’s CEO Aisha Campbell said: “We are very excited at Proven Reit to be launching what we believe is one of our flagship developments. VIA at Braemar will be an iconic development and what you see here is many months of planning and research to ensure that the outcome will truly define and redefine urban living in Jamaica. It is said that the value and attractiveness of real estate is dependent on three variables: location, location, location. VIA has all three. Located in the urban centre of New Kingston yet tucked away just enough to give a sense and feel of not being in the middle of the bustling city. The fact is locations like VIA are few and far between and will become even less available as Jamaica continues to develop.”
‘We look forward to its completion and do go out and buy a unit.’— Architect David Douglas
VIA’s architectural design is the vision of Jamaican architect David Douglas whose design philosophy is revolutionary. David Douglas said: “The idea from the very start was to have an elevated urban oasis in the centre of Kingston. We looked at the site and looked at the possibilities of what could be done and brought in this idea of lifting the landscape into the building. This led to the creation of the outdoor lounges and the atrium. We used a nice mix of natural materials, stone and wood as well as contemporary materials to create this tropical design. It was an exciting project to have worked on. On behalf of myself and the DD&A team, we look forward to its completion and do go out and buy a unit.”
‘Jamaicans are a lifestyle people and what we are seeing here is the evolution of that lifestyle into our living quarters.’— Chris Williams
Chairman of Proven REIT and CEO of Proven Limited Chris Williams said: “This project demonstrates what Jamaica is doing. Jamaica is taking us all into the future. What we are seeing here is a transformation of our country. For years we have experienced lifestyle through parties and special events. Now we are bringing lifestyle into everyday action. Jamaicans are a lifestyle people and what we are seeing here is the evolution of that lifestyle into our living quarters. When we step, we step a certain way and Proven is bringing that to you in various aspects one of which is real estate.
“We are making sure you are able to afford that lifestyle and we have done everything to keep that affordability. What we want to demonstrate is that Jamaica is more than uptown people. We are talking about middle-class people, a word that we have forgotten about. All we talk about is uptown and downtown What about us middle-class people? That is what Proven REIT is demonstrating with VIA, that you as middle-class people can ensure that not just yourselves but your kids can live in a comfortable, safe environment and that is what VIA is. You can buy one of these units for $130,000 per month.”
