These cross-platform games are just what the doctor ordered!

Asphalt 9

Gameloft has released consistent gaming hits. The decade’s old Asphalt series is no exception and is one of the best arcade-style racing games on the market.

The latest Asphalt 9 is free to download and continues the fast-paced, crash and dash style that made the franchise famous. Asphalt 9 also has multiplayer modes so you can play with friends (over WiFi) or join other online groups. If you like fast, good looking cars and plenty of destruction and mayhem, Asphalt 9 is for you.

Crossy Road

This game is a fun arcade hopper. You’ll use different characters and attempt to cross endless roads, rivers and train tracks without being run over or drowned. The pacing is different at every stage.

Some vehicles move quickly, while others crawl along. You’ll have to calculate their speed and distance accurately or end up as a flattened blob in the street. Crossy Road is the right mix of fun and complexity. I guess the people at HIPSTER WHALE wanted to find out “Why did the chicken cross the road?”

Badminton League

Found this one while searching for games that work across iOS and Android. Badminton League pits users against random opponents as you battle for five or more rounds to see if you have what it takes to win.

The cross-platform multiplayer mode allows iOS and Android users to compete over WiFi.

Call of Duty Mobile

This game has taken the mobile world by storm. It mixes the tried and true formula from the PC and console realm with the appeal of smartphones and tablets. The game delivers with bullet-filled, explosive action. Multiplayer and Battle Royale modes are perfect for teaming up with friends to eliminate opposing teams.

There is a myriad of multiplayer modes to choose. “Gun Game” gives users random weapons after each kill. “One Shot One Kill” grants only a handgun, three bullets and a knife to eliminate others. And best of all, you can play the game with others despite their OS of choice.

Battle Bay

Rovio Entertainment is known for the Angry Birds series. But they’ve since ventured into new territory. Battle Bay is a 5v5 on-the-water battle arena. Each player chooses a ship and equips them with weapons. You must seek and destroy all the opposing ships, all while avoiding your own ship’s destruction.

Teamwork is essential in this game as well-coordinated attacks yield more significant damage and solo players are often swiftly gunned down. Victory is yours once the last of your opponent’s ships are turned to ash.

These are just a few games. If you hate ads and in-app purchases, you might want to check out Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass game subscription services.
