1 COVID-19 death, 45 new infections in Jamaica

According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Jamaica recorded one new death from the coronavirus on Saturday (June 12).

The deceased has been identified as a 68-year-old female from St. Catherine, bringing the death toll to 997.

In addition Jamaica recorded 45 new infections from 1,316 samples

The newly confirmed COVID-19 cases bring the total number of cases on record for the island to 49,277

Of the newly confirmed cases, 26 are females and 19 are males, with ages ranging from nine months to 103 years.

The cases were recorded in St Ann (3), St Catherine (11), Kingston and St Andrew (11), St James (5), Manchester (2) Westmoreland (4), Portland (1) , Trelawny (three), Clarendon (2), St Mary (1)and Hanover (1).

St Thomas recorded no new cases of respiratory illness.
