1 dead, nine others hospitalized after bus plunges into Rio Cobre river in Jamaica

At least one woman has been confirmed dead after a public passenger bus plunged into the Rio Cobre river in St Catherine on Tuesday (June 8).

Nine others were rushed to the Spanish Town hospital, following the incident.

Reports from the police are that at about 9:15 a.m. a minibus and a station wagon travelling along the road toward the Bog Walk gorge collided, sending the minibus, which reportedly had 12 passengers on-board , into the river.

Preliminary reports from eyewitness, note that one of the vehicles was overtaking a long line of traffic when the incident occurred.
