Another 2,500 children from communities across St James stand to benefit from the third staging of the Mayor’s Charity Ball, which will be held on December 7 at the S Hotel in Montego Bay.
Mayor of Montego Bay Councillor Homer Davis said he anticipates that the event will be a success, with more than 300 patrons expected to attend.
Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr Nigel Clarke, is slated to deliver the keynote address.
Mayor Davis was speaking at the media launch of the event at the Grand-A-View Restaurant in Montego Bay this week. He informed that the proceeds from last year’s ball, amounting to almost $2.5 million, were used to treat and provide much-needed supplies for some 2,500 children, shut-ins and the less fortunate in time for Christmas.
“I am very confident that this year’s Mayor’s Charity Ball will be a success and that we will be able to continue the tradition of making our children happy, our elderly happy and making our needy ones in this parish happy,” he said.
