Arsenal are back to winning ways under new boss Mikel Arteta, handing New Castle a 4-0 drubbing at home in the Emirates Stadium on Sunday (Feb 16).
The encouraging result comes after a strong second-half display from the Gunners that the Magpies had no answer for.
A brilliant header from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a goal from Nicolas Pepe in the space of three minutes gave the Gunners a 2-0 lead shortly after half time. New Castle spurned a chance to get within a goal after Ciaran Clark chance went wide from six yards. New Castle missed another chance to score when a shot by Allan Saint-Maximin struck the post with 15 minutes of play remaining.
Strikes from Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette sealed the fate of the Magpies and Arteta’s side finished with a well-earned victory. The victory moved Arsenal within seven points of the top four. Arsenal’s next match is against Everton on Sunday, Feb 23.
