Belize will receive 1,000 single doses of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine from Barbados today.
The vaccines will be received by representatives of the health ministry when the shipment arrives at the Philip Goldson International Airport by cargo flight.
Health minister, Michael Chebat, expressed his gratitude for the donation which he said were fast-tracked to arrive almost immediately following the nation’s acceptance of Barbados’s offer.
Belize is also in negotiations with other nations to source additional vaccines, with the ministry anticipating the arrival of the COVAX doses by the end of March or the start of April.
The ministry also asked the public to continue following its coronavirus protocols to reduce the rate of infections.
