Call centre in Montego Bay closed after 18 workers test positive for COVID-19

The operations at business process outsourcing (BPO) company Teleperformance in Montego Bay were brought to a halt on Wednesday after the health department determined that there were breaches of the COVID-19 protocols at the location.

Reports are that 18 people who work at the location have tested positive for the virus, prompting the health department to intervene. They determined that the best course of action would be to close the entity temporarily.

Teleperformance is expected to remain closed until the health department feels they have done enough to ensure that safety of workers.

This is the second time there has been a COVID-19 workplace cluster in the BPO sector. More than 200 coronavirus cases were linked to Aloricain in Portmore, St Catherine, some months ago.
