Health officials in the Cayman Islands have been ramping up calls for residents to get vaccinated, as the current batch vaccines on island are set to expire in June 2021.
According to the public health department, while the vaccines are set to expire at the end of June anyone intending to be vaccinated will need to receive their first vaccinations before June 9.
The department said that the jabs needed to be administered at least 21 days before the expiration date.
A total number of 70,068 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the Cayman Islands, which represents 37,470 (58% of the estimated population of 65,000) having received at least one dose of the jab.
At least 50% of the islands’ population have received two-dose of the vaccine.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. John Lee, in his latest report revealed that 407 COVID-19 tests have been carried out with the British Overseas Territory having recorded no new COVID-19 infections.
