Three children were among 18 Venezuelan nationals who were caught trying to enter Trinidad and Tobago illegally by boat on Wednesday morning (Oct 23).
The Venezuelans from Guiria were held near the Smith Hill area in Carenage around 5:35 am.
Officers of the Western Division intercepted the vessel and detained the migrants.
Police have since called in immigration officials who are expected to question the Venezuelan nationals. Sources say they are expected to be deported soon.
