Clarendon College dominated Wolmer’s for most of the Champions Cup schoolboy football match at the National Stadium on Friday night, to win 2-0.
The goals were scored early, with Sheldon Smart firing powerfully into the net to give Clarendon a third-minute lead, before Omar Reid curled a corner into the goal in the ninth minute.
Clarendon’s dominance manifested in many scoring chances, which they either wasted or failed to beat the Wolmer’s custodian, especially in the first half, during which the Wolmer’s players were clueless to the slick passing of their opponents.
Wolmer’s put in a better display in the second stanza, but Clarendon still controlled the action, while also creating some scoring opportunities although not as many as in the first half.
Earlier on Friday, Excelsior moved further in the tournament by defeating Dinthill Technical High School 4-3 in sudden death penalty, after the regulation 90 minutes ended with both teams locked 0-0.
