Cuba flogged Barbados 6-1 in their Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Olympic Games qualifier at the National Stadium Wednesday evening.

St Lucia also recorded a 4-1 victory over the US Virgin Islands.

The Cubans were recovering from the 12-1 flogging that Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz inflicted on them in their opening encounter on Monday, while St Lucia also rebounded from their 3-2 loss to Barbados.

With the Reggae Girlz resting, Wednesday’s results have thrown Group B of the qualifiers open, as four teams are on three points.

Jamaica continue to lead the group on goal difference with a mammoth advantage of 11.

A St Lucian player (in blue and yellow) makes a move for the ball against her US Virgin Island opponent.

They are followed by St Lucia with a goal difference of two, Barbados with negative two, Cuba with negative six and the US Virgin Islands, who were playing their first match, yet to record a point.

Only the winners of the three groups in the CFU round will advance to the CONCACAF round where giants, the United States of America, Mexico and Canada await. The Central American qualifiers will also join them.

The Reggae Girlz are playing in their first tournament since the Women’s World Cup in France during the summer. The Girlz will next be in action on Friday, again at the National Stadium, where they will face Barbados at 6:30 pm, after US Virgin Islands tackle Cuba at 4:00 pm.
