#Doha2019: Gaye moves into semis as Kirani James wins 400 metres heat

Jamaica’s Demish Gaye made the semi-finals of the men’s 400 metres at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday (Oct 1), as he finished second to Michael Norman of the United States of America in Heat Four of the preliminary round.

Gaye clocked 45.02 seconds with Norman doing 45.00, with the third and final automatic spot from the heat going to Leungo Scotch of Botswana, who clocked a personal best of 45.10.

Meanwhile, Kirani James of Grenada won Heat Two in 44.94 seconds to finish ahead of Julian Jrummi Walsh of Japan, who ran a personal best of 45.14 with the other automatic qualifier being Vernon Norwood of the United States of America, who did 45.59.
