Jamaica’s Natoya Goule won Heat Four of the 800 metres at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar on Friday (Sept 27) to move into the next phase.
Goule finished the event in 2:01.01 minutes to beat Ce’Aira Brown of the United States of America, who did 2:01.14 minutes for second place. Noelie Yarigo of Benin finished third in 2:01:19.
Goule completed the first 400 metres in 59.99 seconds before moving on to win, but was well slower than the best mark in the six-heat event, as Uganda’s Winnie Nanyondo won Heat Three in 2:00.36 minutes.
Goule’s time, however, was the second-best on the day, in a heat in which five of the seven participants, moved into the next phase of the competition.
