The USA won in a national record of 37.10 seconds, which is a world-leading time this year, ahead of Great Britain, who finished in 37.36 in front of Japan with a regional best of 37.43.

The USA was never in trouble throughout the race, with Christian Coleman handing over first to Justin Gatlin, who also delivered the baton first to Michael Rodgers for Noah Lyles to anchor, pulling away from the rivals.

Great Britain held off the fast-finishing Abdul Hakim Sani Brown of Japan for the bronze.
