Yohan Blake finished fifth in the final of the men’s 100 metres at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar, on Saturday, as Christian Coleman of the United States won the event in a world-leading time of 9.76 seconds.
Blake got a poor start and never recovered. He struggled to keep up with the early leaders but still managed to improve his standing to finish in 9.97 seconds.
The time by Coleman was the sixth-best of all time, as he improved his personal best to finish ahead of teammate Justin Gatlin, who clocked 9.89, with Canada’s Andre De Grasse third in a personal best of 9.90 seconds.
South Africa’s Akani Simbine was fourth in 9.93 seconds.
